PERHAPS MY GREATEST THRILL
AND CHALLENGE AT THE TORCH IS MAKING FIGURATIVE SCULPTURE.
Working from historical photographs, art history books, auction catalogues and pictures that I take while visiting museums, I make sculptures of the torsos, busts, architectural fragments and other objects, sacred and profane whose forms excite and inspire my imagination. I consider these sculptures to be portraits of
the objects, and I strive to instill an emotional and psychological presence beyond any likeness I achieve.
